World Sight Day

World Sight Day is celebrated on the second Thursday of October to the initiative of the World Health Organization.
This date marked on the calendar to bring global attention to the problems of blindness, visual impairment and rehabilitation of people with visual impairment. In celebration of World Sight Day attended various organizations associated with this problem.
Blindness - the inability to see. The leading causes of chronic blindness include cataract, glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, corneal opacities, and eye disease trachoma in children (eg, caused by deficiency of vitamin A). In a world increasingly common blindness, develops with age, and blindness caused by uncontrolled diabetes. According to the International Agency for Prevention of Blindness, about 284 million people have vision problems, of which 39 million is not seen at all. Eye diseases affect more than 19 million children. About 80% of blindness is avoidable if timely treatment. As part of World Sight Day held educational and preventive measures aimed at the prevention of eye diseases.
